Nest Importer
Cutting programs in, manufacturing orders out
Once a nest is cut, someone has to tell Odoo what happened: which sheet was consumed, how many plates, which parts came out and what is left as remnant, and how the cost of the sheet is shared between them. Typed in by hand, that is slow and the costs rarely add up. With this module you upload the files your CAM system exports, several at once and in different formats, and get one confirmed manufacturing order per cutting program, with the sheet as its component and the parts and remnant as by-products that carry the whole cost, split by weight. This is the shared base: install the module for your CAM system, such as Lantek Importer, Bodor Importer or CypNest Importer, to read its files.
One import for every format, with each file's orders and plates shown before anything is created.
Nothing is created until every file is right, and each problem is shown on the file it belongs to.
The sheet's cost is shared between parts and remnant by weight, the way your shop weighs them.
From nesting file to manufacturing order
Tell it how your shop works
In the Manufacturing settings, choose the operation type and the laser work center of the orders it creates. Then decide where the sheet's weight comes from, whether parts and remnant are scaled to the sheet's weight, and whether a plate that weighs differently in the file than in Odoo needs confirming. Each company has its own settings.
Upload every file at once
Open Manufacturing, Import Nests and drop in the files: Lantek, Bodor and CypNest can go in the same batch. Each file is read as soon as it is uploaded and shows its format, its reference, how many orders and plates it will create and whether it is ready.
Problems are shown on their file
Every file is checked against your products before anything is created: missing products, missing weights or a format nobody can read. A file that is not ready blocks the whole batch, so you remove or fix it and nothing has to be undone.
Confirm plates that weigh differently
With the weight check on, a plate whose weight in the file differs from Odoo's by more than both tolerances is listed before importing. Go back to change the files, or import anyway.
One order per cutting program
Each program becomes a confirmed order for the Laser Cut Plate product, one per plate, with the sheet as its component and a Laser operation on your work center. The parts and the remnant are its by-products, and their cost share is computed from their weights.
Considerations
- It needs a format module. On its own it reads no file: install Lantek Importer, Bodor Importer or CypNest Importer, or have a module built for another CAM system.
- All or nothing. A batch is imported only when every file in it is ready; one file with a problem stops the batch until it is fixed or removed.
- Products must exist. Every sheet and part the file names must be a product with the same internal reference. A remnant is the sheet's leftover product and is counted in kg.
- One order per program. Orders are not merged: each cutting program is its own order, with the file's reference and the program number as its source.
- Weights come from the right place. Each format says whether it carries real part weights; when it does not, the products' own weights are used. A remnant is always weighed by the file.
- Several companies. Settings are kept per company, and the import uses those of the company you are working in.
- Who can import. The Import Nests menu is for users in the Nesting group; the module adds a User and a Manager level.
- By-products and units are switched on. Installing the module turns on Odoo's By-Products and Units of Measure features, which the orders need.
