What it does

A shared touch terminal for every workcenter

Operators on the floor should not need an Odoo login, a keyboard or a walk to the office to record their work — yet supervisors still need real times, real quantities and real consumption on every order. This module gives every workcenter a shared touch terminal where operators sign in with a PIN, see exactly the orders waiting for them, and work through the whole job — clocking in, confirming quantities, scrapping and reporting production — while everything they do lands in standard manufacturing records.

Every operator always sees the right orders for their own workcenter, sorted by how urgent they are.

Clock-ins and clock-outs write the same time records your supervisors already see in the backend — nothing to reconcile by hand.

Work stops automatically when a component is missing or the bill of materials changes, so nobody spends time on an order that isn't ready.

How it works

From workcenter setup to a finished order

Step 1

Decide what each workcenter allows

On each workcenter you choose whether its operators may scrap components from the kiosk, and whether they may already work on orders planned for next week. The operators who can work at a workcenter are the employees assigned to it. In the Manufacturing settings, an idle time sends the terminal back to the operator screen so the next person can sign in.

Step 2

Operators sign in with their PIN

The terminal remembers who has used it, so an operator taps their own profile and types their personal PIN on the keypad. A new operator is added from the list of employees assigned to a workcenter. The terminal stays on one shared Odoo session, but every action is recorded against the operator who signed in.

Step 3

The order board

The board only shows the workcenters the operator is assigned to, picked by group and then by workcenter. Orders are grouped by urgency — overdue, this week, next week, later — next to what was finished this week, and a search finds any order by number, product or source. The orders the operator is clocked into stay pinned at the top with their running time.

Step 4

Working an order

Tapping an order opens it: product, dates, the plan drawing and the routing as a row of steps. The operator sets the batch quantity on the first operation, starts and stops the clock, finishes each operation, and reports production on the last one. A partial quantity splits the rest of the order off automatically. Tabs show the components needed at this station and for the whole order, the time logged, scraps and by-products, and a component can be scrapped right from its row.

Step 5

Nothing starts without material

Before an operation starts or closes, the kiosk checks that its components are on hand. When something is short it names the product, how much is missing, and the workcenter that makes it, so the operator knows whom to ask. The same gate holds an order whose bill of materials changed after it was created, until the operator applies the update and sees what changed.

Considerations

  • It needs Odoo Enterprise: it relies on the work-order clocking of the Manufacturing app.
  • Products tracked by lot or serial number cannot be reported from the kiosk; the operator is sent to the backend to enter the lot.
  • A partial report always creates a backorder for the rest — the kiosk never asks. A complete report closes the order.
  • Components are consumed in proportion to the quantity reported. On a bill of materials that does not allow flexible consumption, a difference between what the order consumed and what it should have is shown to the operator for confirmation before the order closes.
  • A workcenter that is stopped (an availability or quality loss is running) cannot be clocked into.
  • Orders planned for next week or later are visible but cannot be worked, unless the workcenter allows next week.
  • With several companies, every order is handled in its own company, whatever company the terminal's session is set to.
  • Reloading the page, or leaving the terminal idle, returns to the operator screen: one operator at a time per terminal.
  • Avoid routings that visit the same workcenter twice; the order list and the order window may then show different operations.

Kiosk No Negative Stock

Keeps the shop floor kiosk in sync with your stock control settings

Installs itself automatically the moment both Shop Floor Kiosk and Stock No Negative are present, and needs no configuration of its own. It makes sure a product you've marked as allowed to run short of stock is treated the same way on the kiosk as everywhere else in the system.

  • ✓ No manual setup — it activates by itself when both modules are installed.
  • ✓ The kiosk and the rest of the system always agree on which products are allowed to run short.
