Reports by Currency
Balances in the currency you agreed on
When you invoice or pay in several currencies, Odoo's accounting reports convert everything into your company currency. This module adds a currency button to the reports you choose. Pick a currency and the report only shows the entries made in it, with their original amounts: what a customer still owes you in dollars, or what you owe a supplier in euros, exactly as it appears on their invoices. Pick "Company currency" and the report is back to normal.
See balances in the currency you actually agreed with each customer and supplier, without exchange-rate noise.
Turn the button on per report: Aged Receivable and Aged Payable come ready, and the ledgers, the Trial Balance or the Balance Sheet take one checkbox.
Unfold lines, open the journal items behind a figure, or export to PDF and Excel: everything stays in the currency you picked.
From one checkbox to a report in that currency
Turn it on for the reports you need
Aged Receivable and Aged Payable have the button from the start. For any other report, turn on developer mode, open Accounting Reports from the Configuration menu of your accounting app, choose the report and tick Currency Filter in the Filters section of its Options tab.
Pick a currency
The report gets a currency button next to the rounding button. "Company currency" keeps the report exactly as Odoo shows it today; below it, every currency active in your database.
Read the report in that currency
The report keeps only the entries made in that currency and shows their original amounts. Here, a 1,000 € invoice with 400 € already paid, at a different exchange rate than the invoice, shows the 600 € the customer still owes: no exchange difference, no conversion rounding.
Ledgers and statements too
The General Ledger, Partner Ledger, Trial Balance, Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss work the same way: debits, credits and balances in the selected currency, with totals that add up.
Considerations
- It filters, it does not convert. Choosing a currency shows the entries recorded in it, not the whole report translated into it. A Balance Sheet in dollars holds only your dollar entries.
- The details follow. Clicking an amount opens the journal items behind it, in that currency only.
- So do the exports. PDF and Excel exports keep the amounts in that currency, and their header says which one.
- Several companies. Amounts add up in the chosen currency even when your companies keep their books in different currencies.
- Where not to turn it on. The Cash Flow Statement, the Tax Report, the Journal Report and Unrealized Currency Gains/Losses calculate their figures differently: keep the option off on those.
